The Cold Wind Ranch
Cold Wind Ranch"Where the harvest never ends, and the wind carries the voices of the lost." Cold Wind Ranch was once a thriving family-owned farm nestled among endless fields of corn and wheat. Generations of hard-working farmers lived and died upon its soil, tending livestock, harvesting crops, and building a life beneath the open sky. To outsiders, it appeared to be nothing more than a simple ranch, but beneath the surface lingered decades of tragedy, greed, hardship, and bloodshed.
Long before the Entity claimed it, the ranch belonged to the Thompson family, whose name became synonymous with both prosperity and cruelty. The land demanded sacrifice. Crops failed, animals vanished, workers disappeared, and accidents became common. Yet the family remained, driven by stubborn determination and a growing darkness that seeped into every corner of the property.
When the Entity reached into that dying world, it found fertile ground. The ranch's history of suffering, desperation, and death made it a perfect addition to its Realm. One storm-filled night, the land itself vanished. The skies darkened, the fields twisted, and Cold Wind Ranch was torn from reality and dragged into the endless Fog.
Now the ranch exists as a distorted reflection of its former self, frozen in a state of eternal decay.
The Thompson House, located at the heart of the ranch, the Thompson House serves as the central landmark of the property and the former residence of the ranch owner.
Once a proud farmhouse overlooking the land, it now stands weathered and haunted. Its creaking floors and empty rooms echo with memories of family arguments, financial ruin, and terrible secrets. The Entity preserved the house much as it was during its final days, allowing its sorrow to linger forever.
Many believe the house serves as the anchor point of Cold Wind Ranch within the Fog, with the surrounding land slowly warping around it.
Fractured Cowshed situated on the eastern side of the ranch, the Fractured Cowshed housed the farm's livestock, including cattle, horses, pigs, and other animals.
Before the Entity's arrival, this area was essential to the ranch's survival. However, years of neglect and poor harvests left the structure unstable and broken. Animals often disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and ranch hands spoke of strange sounds coming from the stalls at night.
In the Entity's Realm, the cowshed remains locked in a perpetual state of collapse, its shattered beams and dark corners hiding countless dangers.
Torment Creek running through the center of the ranch, Torment Creek provides the primary water source for both livestock and crops.
The creek once symbolized life and renewal, but over time it became associated with tragedy. Workers drowned during floods, livestock were found floating downstream, and rumors spread of shadowy figures appearing along its banks.
When Cold Wind Ranch was taken by the Entity, Torment Creek was dragged along with it. Its waters now seem unnaturally dark, carrying a constant chill no matter the season.
Rancharid Woods stretching along the northern border of the ranch, Rancharid Woods forms a dense barrier between the farmland and the unknown wilderness beyond.
Hidden among the trees is the ranch's fruit orchard, once filled with apple, pear, and peach trees that helped sustain the farm. The orchard was often considered the most peaceful part of the property.
That peace is long gone.
The woods have become twisted and overgrown within the Fog. The trees lean at unnatural angles, their branches resembling skeletal hands reaching toward the sky. Travelers frequently lose their sense of direction within the woods, hearing whispers carried by the wind but never finding their source.
Blood Lodge, located in the southwest section of the ranch, Blood Lodge served as the living quarters and dining hall for the ranch hands.
The workers who lived here were responsible for maintaining the fields, caring for the animals, and performing countless dangerous tasks. Life within the lodge was difficult, and tensions often ran high among exhausted laborers.
Stories tell of violent fights, disappearances, and unsolved murders occurring within its walls. Whether those stories were true hardly matters now.
Within the Entity's Realm, Blood Lodge remains a grim monument to the suffering of those who worked the land. Its fireplaces never truly warm the rooms, and its walls seem to absorb every sound.
Rotten Fields, the western side of the ranch contains the Rotten Fields, where crops failed repeatedly due to disease, drought, and poor soil conditions.
What was once productive farmland became a wasteland of dead stalks and ruined harvests. The Thompson family poured resources into saving the land, but nothing worked. The fields became a symbol of the ranch's decline.
Even after being claimed by the Entity, the Rotten Fields remain barren. Dead corn stalks sway endlessly in the cold wind, creating a maze where visibility is limited and danger lurks around every corner.
Northern Harvest Fields following the collapse of the Rotten Fields, farming operations were moved to the northern section of the ranch.Corn, wheat, and other crops were planted here in hopes of saving the farm's future. For a brief period, the land flourished once more.
The Entity twisted this final hope into another source of despair. The fields now stretch farther than they should, their rows seeming endless beneath a sky that never changes. Travelers often report feeling watched while moving between the crops, as though the land itself has become alive.
The Entity's Claim Cold Wind Ranch did not enter the Fog because of a single tragedy. It was chosen because of generations of hardship, violence, desperation, and suffering. Every failed harvest, every death, every broken promise left a scar upon the land.
The Entity saw those scars and fed upon them.
Now Cold Wind Ranch exists outside of time and reality, forever trapped within the Realm of the Entity. The crops never grow. The animals never truly live. The workers never find rest.
Only the wind remains.
And in the endless fields of Cold Wind Ranch, the wind never stops blowing.
